Hi Gerda

It is difficult to label your husband an alcoholic from your recount of events. Of course, it does appear that your husband MAY have a problem with his alcohol consumption as he is prepared to risk his health when he should not be drinking due to his cirrhosis. The fact that you do not approve of his drinking, for good reason, and he is prepared to strain the relationship by continuing with his alcohol consumption, also indicates that he has a problem. Lastly, having to drink every night, given his health condition and your disapproval, may indicate that he has little or no control of the situation and intervention may be necessary.
